As a result of this, her life has taken a new direction in which she is starting a ministry dedicated to giving hope to people and their families who are facing a battle against a serious illness. Tamela began her career at San Francisco State University in which she studied pre-law and African American Studies for 2 years. She then continued her studies at the University of Pittsburgh where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and traveled to Europe to take some time away from studying to see the world. After Tamela owned her Paralegal business, she worked for such companies as Hertz, Metro One Telecommunications, Chase Manhattan Bank and San Diego State’s Aztec Shops Catering as the Manager of Operations. These positions were very fulfilling because Tamela has always had a desire to help the success of companies by focusing on the customer’s needs and developing processes that would overall aid in the increased productivity of its employees. Tamela then received her Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Organizational Management. During this time Tamela wrote her two Master Thesis’s on how she would go about opening her own catering business, which today is known as La Soul Food Catering. Tamela’s interest in food began at an early age when she was always more than willing to help her grandmother cook authentic southern Soul food meals for the family. As a result of being the owner of La Soul Food Catering, Tamela has been able to captivate her customers with her gift for cooking, event planning and overall creating a magical, unforgettable Soul food dining experience.
